Food is a powerful tool. It can bring a family together at the end of the day, communicate a culture’s history, or be a symbol of love. In times of crisis however, it becomes even more powerful. Food can play a role in healing a community. Our partner, World Central Kitchen (WCK), knows this better than anyone.

World Central Kitchen delivers fresh meals to communities in need after disaster strikes, believing that food is a universal human right. Founded in 2010 by Chef José Andrés, they are first to the frontlines, providing meals in response to humanitarian, climate, and community crises. Through quick action, leveraging local resources, and adapting in real time, WCK has served hundreds of millions of nourishing meals around the world. In May 2024, they reached an amazing milestone of serving over 400 million meals!

How are they able to get operations going so quickly? By partnering with organizations on the ground and activating a network of local restaurants, food trucks, or emergency kitchens, WCK serves comforting meals to survivors of disasters effectively and in record time. They also prioritize purchasing local ingredients to support regional economies, so that communities thrive long after their work is done. In fact, WCK has food resilience teams that assess hard-hit areas and put plans into action to advance human and environmental health, offer access to professional culinary training, create jobs, and improve food security in that area. The team at World Central Kitchen is doing more than helping a community rebuild; it's helping them grow.

As Chef José Andrés once expertly said, “When you need medical service, you bring doctors and nurses. When you need the rebuilding of infrastructure, you bring in engineers and architects. And if you have to feed people, you need professional chefs.” Nobody can do the work better than their team, and we are proud to partner with them as they provide their next 350 million meals wherever they’re needed. Wear your support and give a meal with our tasty collection today!
