At Conscious Step, sustainability isn’t just a box to check; it’s our mission. With every new product we create, we aim to go further, think bigger, and innovate better for the planet and the people who call it home. Our t-shirts are more than just a new product; they represent our ongoing commitment to ethical practices, sustainable materials, and responsible production.

So what goes into making a t-shirt truly sustainable? For us, it’s about materials, ethical production, and environmental responsibility. As we expand into new product categories, we take it as a challenge to be more sustainable than ever before, and t-shirts were our next great opportunity to make a positive difference. We partnered with a manufacturer in India that shares our values, using GOTS-certified organic cotton and Fairtrade practices. Their sustainability efforts go above and beyond to also include solar-powered energy, 100% water recycling, and rainwater harvesting, setting a high standard for green manufacturing.

We love GOTS organic cotton because it reduces environmental impact, protects biodiversity, and supports better soil health. By avoiding synthetic pesticides and GMOs, organic cotton also improves farmers’ health and ensures safer ecosystems. Our t-shirts, made from 100% Fairtrade organic cotton, are dyed and printed with non-toxic materials, combining comfort with care for the planet. How is our factory going above and beyond? In addition to our two certifications, our factory holds the following certifications:

• Fairtrade USA Certified

• Global Organic Textile Standard Certified (GOTS)

• Organic Content Standard Certified (The Organic Content Standard (OCS) is a voluntary global standard that sets the criteria for third-party certification of organic materials and chain of custody.)

• Compliant by SA8000 Standards (The SA8000 Standard is based on internationally recognized standards of decent work, including the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, ILO conventions, and national laws.)

• A Green Factory built and designed using the guidelines set by the Indian Green Building Council

Our factory utilizes solar panels that provide 60-70% of its energy needs. It also recycles 100% of the water used in production, thanks to its status as Asia's leading Effluent Treatment Plant. This facility specializes in treating and purifying industrial wastewater to ensure it is safely discharged into the environment. Additionally, the factory incorporates rainwater harvesting pits to recharge groundwater and uses a reverse osmosis plant for water purification.
